A consultant who resolves an issue faster, even at a higher rate, can save you money in the long run. 

Do / don’t

Prepare your team explaining them what is the scope of the project, if they are not sure what else may be needed make sure to prepare NDA and Project contracts. Update the team about it to avoid any hostilities. Do not fire anyone during consultant on your site especially from the team, it makes unnecessary tensions and confusion among members and the consultant. Give all help possible to do the necessary research of all added aspects of additional systems like hardware, setup, all involved software.
